WEST COAST SWING Dancers
Take your dancing to the next level!
You’re invited to ‘Level Up’ your West Coast Swing by attending training days with Steve & others as they share drills, skills and techniques given from the Pro’s.
Join in to improve your West Coast Swing and most of all, have fun with the community.

What is level up?
Perth has some fantastic dance schools offering West Coast Swing every week.
To complement these great classes, Level Up was created to provide a unique training environment allowing dancers to develop their skills in diverse ways and at their own pace, beyond the traditional class structure.
This is a great opportunity to refine your skills alongside dedicated and motivated dancers in a friendly and supportive environment. Traing with your regular dance partner for the whole session or enjoy rotating in an inclusive environment with the opportunity for you to safely explore advanced techniques.
Steve leads the training group by sharing the latest concepts he’s been training. This is where he brings valuable insights from his personal training sessions, private lessons, 1:1 coaching with Champions and workshops with top WCS Mentors, helping you elevate your dancing to the next level.
These incredible WCS Champions & Mentors include;
- Semion & Maria
- Yakub & Emeline
- Maxence & Virginne
- Sean & Alyssa
- plus many more…
The ultimate goal is to ‘Level Up’ as a community of dancers, so we can all grow in the dance style we love. By honing our skills, we’ll bring fresh energy and expertise back to our weekly classes, raising the overall skill level and helping to expand the West Coast Swing community.
What will we train during the Level Up Training Days?
A typical training days consist of the following;
- Mindset & Movement
- Techniques & Skills
- Advanced / Expert level Patterns
- Creative combinations
By training with Steve you can expect:
- Partner and Solo Drills to improve your WCS technique.
- Improved connection so you feel great when you dance.
- Improved movement so you look great when you dance.
- Advanced & Expert level patterns to add to your repertoire.
- Advanced footwork, styling, core and frame.
- A supportive group to encourage you as you push yourself to improve
- And a whole lotta fun – because we’re dancing West Coast Swing!!!
Training Day Music
Level Up uses a playlist of songs that are intentionally a little slower than usual for our training days. This allows us to train at a slower pace while learning new movements, but also accentuate musicality moments.
If you use Spotify, you can also prepare for the training days by following the playlist and listening to the music in advance.
training day structure & requirements
To meet our goals of advancing as a group, we’ll be structuring the training days as follows;
- You must have a good foundation of all the standard West Coast Swing patterns, timing and techniques. For this reason we’re only inviting dancers who have been dancing West Coast Swing for a minimum of 12 months. The content presented is typically suited to WSDC Intermediate or Advanced level but is primarily shared for those in WSDC Novice rankings to expand their WCS skillset.
- At times, we may ask that you only register as a partnership. If this is the case it will be clearly labelled within the training day event notes. For these events, if you’d like to attend, you must find a partner to train with. We won’t be rotating partners during these sessions, as we believe training with the same partner fosters consistency, improves communication and feedback, and enhances your ability to master complex patterns together.
- You’ll attend with a teachable mindset and be open to receive instruction and direction from Steve & any assistant during the event.
- You’ll respect everyone in the training group.
- You’ll dance safely with your partner to avoid possible injury.
